About Noel Gama

Noel Gama, a science graduate with Masters in Public Administration and Business Administration, directs Human Resources and MarCom for one of India's largest pipe-manufacturing companies.A published author and winner of The Writers Bureau (UK) “Writer of the Year 2007” award, he writes the popular, Great Expatations column in a national fortnightly newsmagazine – UTs’ Voice – circulated to more than 50 embassies in India. His book, Culture Wise India: The Essential Guide to Culture, Customs & Business Etiquette (Survival Books Ltd, UK) is selling on Amazon. One of his trademark Blog2Book projects on Indo-Portuguese culture was launched by a former Consul General of Portugal in India and is now being turned into four books. Noel is of Portuguese descent and lives in Daman (Damão), a former Portuguese enclave on the western shores of India which became part of India as recently as 1961. Hence, there is a strong Portuguese influence in its culture. It is in this unique multiracial, multicultural and multilingual environment that Noel grew up in. It is therefore not surprising that while his mother tongue is Portuguese, he had his formal education in English. Noel spends his leisure hours in his colonial villa in a 16th century fort, in the company of his extended family and his dogs. When not working, he dons his singer-songwriter hat and plays with his collection of guitars and synths; at other times, he writes his historical romance novels set in the Indo Portuguese era.
